How might Filipino futurists and practitioners decolonize and democratize futures literacy knowledge and access in the Philippines? What does a socio-aspirational approach to futures literacy look like? What is the Hiraya Foresight approach? What makes it socio-aspirational? How might we make futures literacy and praxis culturally engaging, authentic, empowering, accessible, radical, meaningful, and impactful? This presentation aims to share the Philippine Futures Thinking Society's full-spectrum case and story of igniting the Filipino Hiraya (the fruit of one's aspirations, hopes, and dreams) through the power of foresight.

Dr. Lizan Calina is the President of the Philippine Futures Thinking Society (PhilFutures) and co-chair of the Millennium Project Philippines. PhilFutures is the leading professional futurist organization in the Philippines. t Dr. Lizan has distinguished herself as an academic scholar, author of books and journals local and international, and capacity building programs multiple and allied fields of public administration as President of the Philippine Society for Public Administration. Lizan is Dean of the Graduate School of Public and Development Management of the Development Academy of the Philippines.

Prof. Shermon Cruz (he/him)
Professor
Prof. Shermon Cruz is a professional futurist, risk management, and certified business continuity management expert. He is the founder and executive director of the Center for Engaged Foresight, a futures innovation and strategic foresight hub established in 2012. He is the chair of the Millennium Project Philippines Node and Vice-President of the Philippine Futures Thinking Society. He was the recipient of the 2014 International Social Science Council and the World Social Science Forum Early Career Social Scientists from the Global South.
